Professional Skills Training - ITIL and Project Management
To be able to deliver successful business-critical projects, your business is reliant on effective Project Management skills and knowledge. It is essential for all individuals who are part of a team delivering a project to gain an understanding of the responsibilities within Project Management.
To assist in this, Deverill offers ITIL and Prince 2 courses either as a public course or a company course, which can take place at one of our training centres or at your location.
Topic areas include:
ITIL (the IT Infrastructure Library) is essentially a series of documents that are used to aid the implementation of a framework for IT Service Management. This customisable framework defines how Service Management is applied within an organisation.
ITIL is organised into a series of sets, which themselves are divided into two main areas: service support and service delivery. Service Support is the practice of those disciplines that enable IT Services to be provided effectively. Service Delivery covers the management of the IT services themselves.
ITIL provides a systematic and professional approach to the management of IT service provision. Adopting its guidance can provide such benefits as:
- reduced costs
- improved IT services through the use of proven best practice processes
- improved customer satisfaction through a more professional approach to service delivery
- standards and guidance
- improved productivity
- improved use of skills and experience
- improved delivery of third party services through the specification of ITIL or BS15000 as the standard for service delivery in services procurement

Projects bring together resources, skills, technology and ideas to achieve business objectives. Using a structured project management method such as PRINCE2 helps an organisation to ensure that these objectives are delivered to an appropriate level of quality and within the constraints of time and cost. It is also an essential element in managing the risks inherent in change and innovation.
PRINCE2 is used extensively throughout the public sector in the UK and is also widely recognised and used commercially in the UK and abroad. The method can be applied to all kinds of project including information systems projects.
