IT Healthchecks are designed to provide an organisation with high level, independent, views of system performance, suitability for purpose and ability to withstand both expected and unexpected failures.
The Healthcheck is often the first step in the process of working in close partnership with our customers to build IT Solutions that support an organisation in achieving its business goals; in a cost effective and highly dependable manner. As such the initial Healthcheck should not be regarded as a detailed study of the customer’s IT infrastructure, but rather as an initial analysis of the primary components of the infrastructure and their ability to meet the objectives stated earlier.
Typically a Healthcheck consists of a one-day site visit to meet with key IT personnel and examine the various plans and procedures in place. This would be followed by a further half day analysis of the environment and the production of a succinct report on the suitability of existing systems to meet the objectives, if required, the Healthcheck would also include recommendations for further investigation or work to be carried out to rectify any shortcomings. The healthcheck usually focuses on the Customer’s IT systems from four key perspectives;
- Hardware - processor and network capacity and redundancy
- Data - back-up systems and procedures
- Operating Systems - installation and management and configuration
- Application Software – key business systems back up and contingency planning
