Deverill delivers a strategic IT vision to Hope and Homes for Children
29/01/2010 11:50:50

South coast-based IT consultancy and IT training company, Deverill, has supported Wiltshire-based Hope and Homes for Children in developing a strategic three year IT plan for the charity.

Established 15 years ago, Hope and Homes for Children now works across Central and Eastern Europe and Africa moving children out of institutions and into caring family units. It also supports families at risk of breakdown due to the pressures of poverty, disease and conflict.

The charity has grown at a rapid rate since it launched and it became apparent that its IT equipment was out-of-date and was becoming insufficient in supporting its growing workforce. As a result the charity appointed Deverill to create an IT plan to help support its growth. A key requirement of the plan was for staff to be able to access the network from home and overseas.

Hope and Homes for Children now benefits from the following:

  • A new server
  • Modern virtualised environment
  • Greater storage capacity
  • Disaster recovery
  • Improved network response
  • Remote access

Jo Mundy from Hope and Homes for Children said: “IT underpins all of our office work and with our inefficient systems our staff were not able to work as effectively as they should. Furthermore, even though we are based in South Wiltshire we often recruit people from further afield so being able to work from home with full network access is a big advantage for us. Deverill provided invaluable assistance by helping us develop an IT plan. Also, our staff will now be able to log on from home or abroad and can access everything on our server. This will allow us to become a more flexible employer in the future.”

Joel Jervis, CEO of Deverill said: “Many businesses are in a position where they are loosing valuable time and money as they are using slow and inefficient IT systems. By recognising this Hope and Homes for Children now benefit from a faster, more efficient IT environment and they can put more money back where it matters, into the charity itself and its projects.”
