How2…use KeyTips in Microsoft Office 2007 and 2010

A short but useful tip…

The banner displayed at the top in Microsoft Office 2007 & 2010 is called the Ribbon. It comes with shortcuts called KeyTips which let you easily and quickly perform common functions with just your keyboard. You can make these KeyTips appear by pressing the ALT key.

See this example from Microsoft Office Word:

Using your keyboard, press the letter or number shown in the KeyTip over the feature that you want to use. For example, if you want a quick save you just press ALT then 1.

To cancel the action that you are taking and hide the KeyTips, press and release the ALT key again. And don’t worry – all your old shortcuts do still work!
